These wise authors do more than merely identify problems stemming from a lack of trust; they offer practical strategies for people to restore trust and renew faith in one another. Using real-world examples and cutting-edge research, this book identifies a pathway to hope. More than ever, we need differences to be managed, problems to be solved, and relationships to be restored to create commUNITY and renewed trust.

Stop the presses! Our country needs this new book…fast!

Trust…how timely in our divided country of mistrust. Finally, a scholarly, in-depth, but highly practical examination of the most critical factor in productive organizations, and in society for that matter. There can’t be a subject that is timelier and more important for our country and the world – Building High-Trust CommUNITY. So quit looking. It is here.

Congratulations!

I believe there is a tremendous opportunity for our communities, states, countries, and world to address the problems of distrust and polarization.  But, with any opportunity, there is risk.  Embedded in the trust gap identified in this book is a degradation of a shared vision and corresponding values that support that vision.  Neighborly to that statement, civility, honest debate (listening and open mindedness), the power of ideas and compromise have been in steep decline.  If we are to reverse course, leaders must get better at developing the collective vision, articulating why the vision is worth pursuing and lead by example with civility.

Without trust, our society falters. Trust is critical for society to function and to move forward. Unfortunately, as a nation, in many ways, we have lost our way. Trust in our government, educational institutions, media, corporations and one another has been severely challenged. Rebuilding trust is critical to our long-term survival as a country and as a people.  I commend the work that Pam and Sherry have done to identify the problem and to explore opportunities in Building High-Trust Comm UNITY! to move forward. With hope for a better tomorrow, we can each take positive steps to rebuild trust and unity of purpose.

I believe if we will listen and leave our agendas at home, maybe polarization will be lessened, and trust can be rebuilt.
